General Guidelines
A couple of quick rules to follow:
1. Only ONE (1) YouTube, iFilm or any other video allowed per post.
2. Do not SPAM PTP with links. All users placing massive amounts of links -- especially unrelated -- will be banned.
3. Though HTML is still allowed in place of the PTP tags, all posts are stripped of HTML coding until verified by an Admin or Moderator.
How do I post images?
If you have an image that you downloaded to you computer that you'd like to post there is only one simple way that we can suggest. Just like popular bulletin boards, PicktheParty allows hotlinking. Follow the steps below for the quickest way to get an image online.
1. Download Your Image
2. Make sure your image has a width less than 400px
3. Upload your image to ImageShack- The Home Page will ask you to browse for your file.
(if you do not know how to resize an image, let ImageShack do it for you; option shown below)
4. Once your image has been uploaded, you will want the 'direct link' to your image (shown below).
5. Now, add the image into your page following the example below.

6. The PTP tag program will convert the above tags into standard HTML. By doing so your image will be centered and have a space above and below it.
How do I insert a link?
After doing an image a link should be easy. Pay attention to the example below for how to insert a link in a comment.

Remember to insert the entire web address (URL), including the "http://".
-Make Certain Text Bold
1. Find the word or phrase you want bold and surround it with [b] and [/b]. Look at the example below.

How do I insert a video?
PicktheParty currently offers tags for both
iFilm and YouTube; if you would like us to work on tags for another video hosting site be sure to let us know. Take a look at both sample images below on where you can find the necessary code to add to your post.
-Add an iFilm Video
1. Find the video of your choice by searching around iFilm. Once you find the video you are looking for continue down to step #2.
2. There are two ways you can get the information you need for the selected video. The first option is to click the 'Embed' button and copy only the string of numbers/letters after "flashvars=". The second way to discover the information you need is to place your mouse over the "Watch" button. If you look inside the pop-up URL in your browser you will notice a string of numbers as shown below.
If you look to the lower left hand corner of your browser you will see the URL that the "Watch" button provides. The first set of numbers (surrounded by the red box in the image above) are what you are looking for.
3. Once you acquire the number set, all you must do is insert it like the example below.

Similar to an image, the custom 'ifilm' tag will automatically center and space the video for you in standard HTML.
-Add a YouTube Video
1. Find the video of your choice by searching YouTube. Once you find the video you are looking for continue to step #2.
2. There are two ways you can get the information you need for the selected video. The first option is to click the 'Embed' box (shown above) and copy the entire code into a program such as Notepad or Word. The only variable you need to look for is the set of characters right after http://www.youtube.com/v/. An example would be http://www.youtube.com/v/_QvNuJYniFU. The character set _QvNuJYniFU would be all that you need to know.
You can also acquire this character set by looking at the address of the video over at YouTube. If the address you are watching the video from on YouTube is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QvNuJYniFU, then all you must do is copy down the characters immediately after http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=. Take a look at the image below for an example.
Looking at your address bar, the character set with the red border is what you will need.
3. Once you acquire the character set, all you must do is insert it like the example below.
Here is my message.

Similar to an image and iFilm video, the custom 'youtube' tag will automatically center and space the video for you.
When using PicktheParty tags it is unnecessary to give any extra spacing above or below the content. All images and videos will be centered and have a break both above and below.
Limit ALL PTP tags to ONE (1) per post.
HTML is supported, but must be approved by a moderator.
How do I insert a quote?
All you need to do is surround the text you want to quote with the quote tags:

Here is a quote:
[quote]This is the quote of a lifetime[/quote].
How do I create a debate?
Simple, just follow the guidelines below.
1. You must be logged into your account at PTP.
2. Go to your User Control Panel and look for the option below.
3. Click on the plus icon next to 'User Debates'. This will show your debates you have already created along with a form to create new debates.
4. Follow all the instructions to create your debate in the supplied form. Once your debate is created, it will appear under the same menu in your User Control Panel. Users can also access your debates from your profile page.
HTML and PTP tags are NOT allowed in your debate title and the write-up. Your debate will allow users to choose whether they AGREE or DISAGREE, so write your debate accordingly.
How do I put up a link (alert users) about my debate?
There are two ways to put up the link to allow users to go directly to your debate.
1. You can copy and past the entire HTML address into a PTP tag like the example below.
Ex: [http://www.picktheparty.com/debateon/13/My-Debate/1 Check Out My Debate on Politics]
2. Or, even easier, just copy and paste the tag provided by your debate. Look at the image below to see where you can find the necessary PTP tag.
You can copy and paste this tag into a comment for any debate or user's profile. The PTP system will create the necessary link for you.
