Name: Tony Blair DOB: April 8, 2007
Blair is the Labour Party's longest-serving prime minister, the only person to have led the party to three consecutive general election victories, and the only Labour prime minister to serve more than one full consecutive term. The Labour party is supposed to be left of center on our political scale and have an ideology of Democratic socialism. All of this would make one think he is more Liberal, but is he?
Tony Blair is a member of a left of center political party, has conservative views, and is buddy buddy with President Bush. Is he Liberal or Conservative?

Any leader that is so close with GB has got to be conservative!

He has said that his christianity is important to his politics, but he is a centrist on issues such as abortion. Some measures his government introduced were considered illiberal, but he was also responsible for seeing thourgh legislation to limit discrimination on the grounds of sexuality.
I agree he's a tough call.

Must everything be divided into black and white? Why can't anyone just have political views for themselves, and not be wedded to a party?

In response to Ajax:Because a candidate can't get elected without the backing of a political party. ... So, pretty much by definition, if you are a politician, you must pick a party.

I agree with Kat. If Tony Blair belongs to a political party, he has to follow the party principles.
